DAOMedge is a Data Access Object suite that includes a code generator to generate the Java Value Objects and supporting XML files.

The basic principle here is that the developer is in complete control of how and when the data is accessed.

With JDO all that is hidden and all the developer needs to do is get and set properties, this can somethimes be hazardous especially when value objects are created on the fly but don't need to, or shouldn't, be persisted. The java docs are in the javadoc directory.

DAOMedge uses JDBC to connect so requires JDBC drivers and requires some Java libraries to be installed in order to work.
